Bergen County Couple Calls Mill Pond at Eatontown Home
Affordability, Location and New Construction Key Selling Points

EATONTOWN, N.J. (Jan. 13, 2008) – When Dustin DeMercurio and his fiancee Judith Medina were in the market to buy a condominium they found themselves in a Blockbuster renting movies one night and picked up a new homes magazine. They leafed through it and stumbled across an ad for American Properties Realty’s Mill Pond at Eatontown and liked what they saw.

The couple drove down from Bergen County, where they each had their own place, to visit what was then the construction site for the new development in Monmouth County. They got to see the development’s location and the framing of the homes before the sheetrock was even installed. After they learned of the price, they were hooked.

"We saw the size and lay out and we pretty much fell in love with it,” said DeMercurio of Woodcliff Lake. “We thought it was a no-brainer for the money and a new construction condo."

The couple, which plans to wed in Long Island, N.Y. in April, had already placed a bid on a resale condominium in Mahwah when they visited Mill Pond at Eatontown.

"The (Mahwah) unit was more money for less square footage and it was 20 years old, so it wasn’t even worth the investment," he said, adding if they bought something new in Bergen County it would have cost them about $400,000.

DeMercurio works for Lexmark International as a district sales manager out of his home and Medina owns her own business, A Personal Touch, which is an in-home beauty services company that provides hairstyling, coloring, massage therapy and permanent makeup. Neither was restricted to North Jersey so the decision of where they should buy their first home together became even easier after their visit to Mill Pond.

The couple chose a two bedroom, two-bathroom condominium on the third floor of their building, where starting prices are $252,990. They used the extra bedroom as a combined office/guest room, which they both use for work. They also enjoy free parking. "I love the spaciousness, the layout. It is brand new and the fact that we got to pretty much customize it was great. We got to choose our own upgrades. We put a granite counter top in the kitchen, a tray ceiling in the master bedroom, tile in the bathrooms and then we got an electric fireplace that is located catty-corner in our living area from the opening to the kitchen," he said.

Medina added that she also liked having the opportunity to start from scratch on decorating with picking out cabinetry and other finishes.

"I like that it is affordable. I like the area. It’s near the beach and it centrally located near the Garden State (Parkway)," said Medina of Edgewater.

American Properties Realty recently opened a new model home available for public viewing at Mill Pond, where more than 50 percent of the community is occupied. American commissioned the nationally known Design Environments Inc. (DEI) of Atlanta to create a custom look in its Essex model home, in addition to the existing two model homes, The Arlington and The Canterbury.
