Ghosal was one of more than 100 new and prospective buyers who recently attended the Grand Opening at The Jefferson. In Ghosal’s case, she was showing off the community that will become her home later this summer to her mother, Anima Ghosal, also of Edison, and other members of her family.

Ghosal, 29, is a project engineer at the Lockheed-Martin Corp. who is relocating to a job in Newtown, PA. After looking for a new home throughout the region, she settled on The Jefferson, which features two-bedroom, two-bathroom homes with up to 1,635 square feet of living space at prices starting at $209,990.

A main attraction for Ghosal was the elegant 3,500-square-foot clubhouse with fitness center and outdoor pool, as well as added amenities such as the bocce ball court and the children’s playground. Although Ghosal has no children, she believes the presence of the playground will add to her home’s value should she ever decide to move.

"The value is tremendous," Ghosal said. "The Jefferson is much more affordable than the other complexes I looked at and I love the fitness center, which will allow me to cancel my gym membership, and the pool. No other complex I looked at offered a pool."

The clubhouse features a state-of-the-art fitness center with treadmills, stair climbers, stationary bikes, free weights, lifting machines and men’s and women’s lockers. In addition there is a magnificent clubroom with lounge area, fireplace and kitchen; a meeting room; a library; a conference room; and a business room with Internet access.

Another factor in Ghosal’s choice was the fact that The Jefferson is new construction, which holds its value better than resales, she said. The quality, value and amenities offered by The Jefferson have translated into a high volume of sales. Phase I, which consists of 49 homes, is already more than 40 percent sold and Ghosal and the other the first occupants are expected to move in early this summer. The pool is also expected to be open for the summer season.

Three gorgeously decorated models were unveiled at the recent Grand Opening, which gave Ghosal and other buyers and prospects ideas about how to decorate the space. As one of the community’s first buyers, she will have the opportunity to customize her home with her own choices of finishes, cabinetry and moldings.

The models include the 1,446-square-foot Arlington, the 1,491-square-foot Bramley and the 1,635-square-foot Canterbury.

"These models give prospective buyers a chance to get a sense of the space, the possible furniture layouts and the way these homes can be decorated, thus adding to The Jefferson’s extraordinary appeal," Csik said. "They give prospective buyers a chance to envision what it would be like to live in one of these beautiful homes."

The Jefferson is comprised of 235 homes in 10 three-story buildings, each with two bedrooms. In addition to the very affordable starting price of $209,990, a $10,000 incentive is being offered (see sales associate for additional details). Qualified first-time homebuyers are also eligible for federal tax credits of up to $8,000.

The Jefferson’s location makes it an ideal residence for young professionals and first-time buyers such as Ghosal who will have convenient access to the Route 1 corridor and to Interstates 95, 295, 195 and the New Jersey Turnpike.

All of the condominium homes are equipped with desirable features such as Formica laminate countertops in the kitchens and master bathrooms, Mid-Continent 42-inch oak cabinetry, oak vanities in the bathrooms, soaring 9-foot ceilings, Dal ceramic tile in both bathrooms, tubs in the master bathrooms, security systems with intercoms and private balconies or terraces.

Once on Route 31 south/Pennington Road, stay in the right lane and go through first traffic light. Turn right onto Charles Ewing Boulevard (corporate complex). Continue for one mile to the next traffic light. Turn left onto Lower Ferry Road for one-eighth of a mile. Turn left onto Phillips Boulevard. The Jefferson sales office is on the left.
